A Bit About Me
I'm Dr. Kristen Wheldon, a licensed psychologist with expertise in clinical forensic psychology, trauma risk management, and occupational health for public safety and entertainment professionals. Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to supporting individuals and organizations in high-stakes fields—from firefighters, professional athletes, attorneys, law enforcement officers, to entertainment creatives. I’ve had the privilege of working with prominent organizations such as the Superior Court of California, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the US Fire Administration's National Fire Academy, and the Los Angeles Fire Department, where I’ve developed mental health programs, led peer support training, and provided resilience-focused services.

My forensic experience as a working with incarcerated populations (jail and prison experience) and those involved in the court systems (expert witness) has deepened my understanding of the extremes of human behavior, informing a nuanced perspective on how individuals respond under severe psychological stress. This background equips me with unique insights into character motivations and challenges, which I bring to my work in entertainment psychology.

In addition to my work with public safety personnel, I’m passionate about applying psychological principles to the world of entertainment. From developing psychologically authentic characters to analyzing audience impact and supporting on-set well-being, I aim to use my background to elevate storytelling and promote mental resilience for cast and crew. I founded the Fire Service Psychology Association to advance mental health initiatives and cultural competence within high-intensity professions.

Through my work, I’m dedicated to creating environments where individuals thrive, projects resonate deeply, and mental health is prioritized. Thank you for visiting—I look forward to sharing insights, resources, and collaborations that merge psychology with the dynamic worlds of entertainment.
